New Work New Year
Tuesday, February 16, 2010
I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year. I spent New Year with a good friend in Back to the Gallery. Had quite a few new pieces in already, including new paintings from Mike Bell, some new sculptures from April Young, hugely amusing and attractive ceramic sculptures from Sonja Moss Dolega and new unusual jewellery including very interesting and colourful handmade acrylic pieces from Lua Lua. Over the next few weeks I am expecting much more work. These include striking wooden wall pieces from Anthony Ndikanwu expected late March; Abstract ceramic forms from well known ceramicist Antonia Salmon, expected in May; new bronzes and ceramics from the hugely popular Jude Jelfs and much more. I will, of course, send out an e-newsletter to all those on the mailing list with as many images as possible as the work comes in. So if you haven’t already do sign up, it costs you nothing but will bring a good deal of pleasure I am sure. (Go to contact page).
Christmas and talented son-in-law
Friday, December 18, 2009 First have to boast - so proud of my talented son-in-law Jeff Nicholson - did you see him singing the Javert part from Les Miserables on the Susan Boyle story last Sunday evening? Must go an see Les Miserables again - just so I can hear Jeff sing again and again and again. Back to business. All going pretty well. Customers/friends doing what they often do, see something they like earlier in the year and come in at Christmas to buy it. I am pleased when the item is handed over but sad at their disappointment when it has gone and it is too late to have something similar made in time for Christmas.....but it happens every year. I am always happy to take a deposit, I am always happy to let people pay the item off especially if it avoids disappointment. Exciting new work coming in 2010. New makers and artists as well as new work from old friends. This year I have had many new makers in the gallery especially in artist jewellery but glass and sculpture too and all have been well received. I also welcomed back old friends, like Elizabeth Hatt an unusual watercolourist whose work has not shown here for at least 4/5 years. You can always keep up with new work in the gallery by receiving my eletter, and then checking images in the gallery section of the website and do remember, if you are looking for something/someone in particular, I am happy to do the searching for you. I hope you all have a wonderful and peaceful Christmas and a great 2010 and oh yes, I fervently hope that the heads of government worldwide see early in 2010 that all of them must work together and selflessly to reduce global warming. Best wishes Judi
Wonderful new lamps
Friday, December 04, 2009
Just in, Beautiful new lamps from Colin Chetwood. Oak bases, so beautiful and so unusual. Must see, must have. Colin is a furniture maker, who also makes the most beautiful lamps, go to the ‘other’ page and have a look, better still come into the gallery and see them. You won’t see these in John Lewis and each is hand made. Would look wonderful in both traditional homes and ultra modern homes. Don’t forget the next late night is Thursday 19th November, come over and have a glass of mulled wine, a mince pie and a good browse. Judi

April Young's sculpture just in also received some lovely very organic jewellery from Mass Art.
Thursday, October 08, 2009
I have been waiting for a while to receive April’s work which has come here directly from the foundry. Please have a look on the Sculpture section to see examples of her bronze resin work. April makes the piece in clay using a heavy ‘crank’ clay and then a mould is made from which she casts a limited edition. In this case there is an edition of 50 of the pawing horse and 25 of the coiled mare. April also makes one off ceramic pieces which I hope to be able to offer at some time in the future. In the meantime, do look at this work and read about her and then please come in and see for yourself. Also received some lovely very organic, some barely oxidised ,new jewellery from Mass Art. Beautifully crafted jewellery from Beccy Crow, pheasants and swifts in necklaces earrings and cuff links - see over on jewellery gallery Until next time. Judi
Fused Glass work new today
Friday, October 02, 2009 Gillian Hulse new fused glass work came in today and it is lovely. From irridescant winged dragonflies hovering over water to wonderful abstracts. I am particularly taken with the curved 'Geo Panel' the patterns of which are so reminicent of Miro and Kandinsky paintings. The fish and the bell panels make wonderful gifts for friends and they are lively, colourful and can be hung in windows on the wall and even in the garden. If you get a chance please pop in and see them. Bye for now Judi
