Yes! I have one
Friday, August 28, 2009
Well, in my last blog, I did say I had to have one of Trevor Price’s etching prints. I was in a quandary, but thankfully Trevor did have another in this small edition of prints and so reasonably priced; he sent me one today. Can’t wait to get home tonight and hang it. I bought ‘Raindance’. You can see this in the gallery section. If you too want one, I have one hanging in the gallery and since it is nearly the end of this edition, you had better hurry. Syann’s work is still selling very well, as is expected with the quality of her work. Sue Whimster’s dogs, especially the English Bull Terriers have also been very well received. Indeed I have only four left. I am preparing a new newsletter for new work coming into the gallery, so either let me have your email address or check out the newsletter section on the website over the next couple of week to take a sneak preview. Until next time. Judi
New fine art prints by Trevor Price
Saturday, August 22, 2009 Completely taken with Trevor Print etchings and drypoint. Trevor's work is new to Rivers Gallery and I am so bowled over that I have to have one of these for myself. This will never do buying my own stock but this is a must have for me despite my small home! Trevor is originally from Cornwall and studied printmaking at Falmouth and then Winchester School of Art. He still works from time to time in Cornwall but is usually based in his London studio. His influences include Piccasso, Henry Moore, Elizabeth Frink and Cecil Collins. You can see examples of his work on the paintings page but better still drop into the gallery to view them. I am expecting jewellery from Anne Morgan. Again I have not had Anne's work before but I really find the curves and lustre of her silver work very pleasing and I am sure you will too. I will updated the blog when it arrives. Drop in again soon. Judi
I'M BACK IN THE COTSWOLDS HOORAY
Friday, July 24, 2009 My experience of Cyprus was not good 'nuff said! Came back to wonderful new jewellery from Tanja Ufer. Exquisite pieces. Using finegold and silver plus diamonds in one pair of earrings - but probably not like you've seen diamond settings before. Hope to see or hear from you soon. Judi
NOT SO QUIET SUNDAY
Sunday, July 05, 2009 Syann Van Niftrik's wonderful jewellery has arrived at last. This collection of rings, bangles, bracelets, earrings and necklaces do not disappoint. They are of the same high standard of quality and design as one expects from Syann. You would have to travel some distance to see another collection of her work and always of a limited duration. Today, instead of putting my feet up and reading the Sunday papers, I have been cataloguing and arranging her work for display but I am pleased to be doing so. DO NOT MISS this opportunity of seeing and owning a piece, or more, of her work. You can see examples of her latest work in the jewellery section but seeing it in the flesh (as it were) should not be missed. The finish cannot adequately be captured by camera. The earrings for instance shown on the jewellery page are oxidised silver on the front and finegold on the back, therefore as the head moves flashes of gold glint. Some of the rings are forged, the effect is of a smooth but slightly uneaven surface. Come in and see for yourself, you won't regret it I am sure.
sweltering

So hot – yes an understatement I know. I am not too good with the heat which is obviously why I am off to Enough moaning, now for the good and uplifting bit. Mike Bell has just delivered new work to the gallery. I have described his work as moody, which is incongruous because Mike is the opposite of moody. Perhaps a better description of his work is atmospheric and very calming. Mike’s deep and rich work is framed well, the frames being very sympathetic with the artwork. Do come along and have a look, I found it very difficult to choose which to display on the paintings section and it will be equally difficult for you to choose which one to take home. I am still waiting for the outstanding jewellery artist Syann Van Niftrik’s new work. I will certainly make sure I announce it loud and clear when it does come in because you really wouldn’t want to miss seeing it. I have a lot of new work coming in over the next few weeks so if you haven’t signed up for the newsletter please do so now – I wouldn’t want you to miss the opportunity of seeing new paintings, new sculpture, new ceramics and new jewellery. Finally if you haven't been in in the last couple of weeks, Sue Whimster has delivered a whole pack of english bull terriers. Tiny ones, teenage ones and grown ups. All different but all with wonderful characters. I’m off to cool down.
