New work at Rivers Gallery
Friday, June 05, 2009 New work this week has included work from Gwili Pottery. Their hand thrown and hand painted 'Target' and 'Farmyard' pieces were delivered this week (see ceramics for photos). Also received new felt pieces from Sue Barry. Next week I am expecting new work from Alex Johannsen. Alex has worked with the Ardman Studios, and her sculptures reflect the humour of that collaberation. Also I am delighted that Syann Van Niftrik is sending me new jewellery. I have not had Syann's work in the gallery for the last 2-3 years. Whenever it is here, and that is only ever for around three months at a time, it is always very popular. Indeed I consider these to be heirloom pieces. I am also hoping to receive, in the next few days work from John Evans,a potter new to the gallery but who I am sure will be warmly welcomed by visitors. Finally, Sue whimster, she of the wonderful ceramic dogs has just finished making work for the gallery and I am really looking forward to its arrival. Keep well Judi
Me - updating a website?
Thursday, May 28, 2009 Welcome to my very first blog and to my new website which I now have the ability to update myself - so no excuses.
My intention is to keep the site updated not only with the latest work showing here at Rivers Gallery but to give you lots of information about the artists/makers and maybe, even the techniques used.
More soon.
Foolishly overlooked including a discrete section for examples from the archive of past exhibitions in my origial remit for the website; therefore, I shall add examples from the archive from time to time in the 'OTHER' section - so don't forget to have a look there.
At last April Young's wonderful sculptures are here
Tuesday, November 30, 1999
I have been waiting for a while to receive April’s work which has come here directly from the foundry. Please have a look on the Sculpture section to see examples of her bronze resin work. April makes the piece in clay using a heavy ‘crank’ clay and then a mould is made from which she casts a limited edition. In this case there is an edition of 50 of the pawing horse and 25 of the coiled mare. April also makes one off ceramic pieces which I hope to be able to offer at some time in the future. In the meantime, do look at this work and read about her and then please come in and see for yourself.
Goodbye for now
Judi
